Overview

Reporting to the Senior Director of Commercial and Market Alliances, the Senior Manager of Commercial and Market Alliances development efforts related to employer and commercial second opinion partnerships, domestic and international payor relationship management, national commercial partner strategy, and develops internal analysis and assessment of payor policies and how they impact Dana-Farber. This role manages and develops the execution of partnerships with second opinion vendors, domestic and international and other commercial relationships. This role assesses and helps develop recommendations for leadership regarding alternative payor vendors and national commercial partners.

Responsibilities include identifying and growing new relationships, support the development of appropriate programs and services for partners, and working closely with internal clinical and business partners to monitor the impact of changing payor policies. This individual assists in the development of financial models for partner engagements and payor analyses. This individual works closely with the VPs, directors, managers, and clinical leaders to identify and implement growth opportunities and ensure positive and cooperative business interactions with key stakeholders and partners. The position is also responsible for supporting the growth and expansion of these relationships to help realize the full clinical and business potential of each partnership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development and execution of DFCI’s second opinion, domestic and international payor, national commercial partner, and alternative payor vendor strategy
  • Manage relationships with new and existing partners, including the development of productive and positive relationships with key stakeholders at partner organizations
  • Manage and develop growth opportunities and help lead in the design of partner models to ensure that they are positioned for success
  • Manage research and outreach related to new and existing domestic and international payor relationships
  • Develop business cases for relationships and solutions focused on growth
  • Research market trends and demand amongst employers and consumers
  • Manage the development of models to predict budget impact due to payor policies  
  • Work with senior clinical and business leaders to implement new partnerships
  • Work with leadership to develop business cases for relationships and solutions focused on growth
  • Manage and support research of changing payor policies, guidelines, and trends (e.g., site of care)
  • Works collaboratively with cross-functional and cross-institutional teams (including operations, finance, nursing, pharmacy, medical oncology, quality/patient safety, social work and palliative care) to develop project plans and inform project implementation
  • On an ongoing basis, monitor the success of relationships based on define KPIs, milestones and partner feedback, ensuring that DFCI’s Solutions continue to perform against stakeholder needs and expectations
  • Develops meeting materials (e.g., agendas, presentations) and other written materials (e.g., business plans) for senior leadership

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree such as MPH, MBA, MHA, MSPH or equivalent degree strongly preferred.
  • 5 years of related experience in strategy, business planning, business development or project management in healthcare required.
  • Experience working directly with senior health care executives
  • Possess strong knowledge of local, domestic, and international payor landscape and policies that impact health systems (e.g., cost containment controls)
  • Experience performing market analysis and developing go-to-market strategies
  • Experience developing health economic and financial modeling
  • Experience developing, executing, and managing complex programs with both internal and external stakeholders within matrixed organizations, as well as multi-institutional relationships and complexities
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally 10% of the time.
  • Ability to work effectively with executive, physician, nursing, administrative and ancillary staff; relationship building and collaboration with employees and managers.
  • Exceptional communication skills; must possess the ability to converse effectively and prepare written proposals, analyses and other documents in a manner readily understood by and crafted for the target audience.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Publisher, Visio. Strong Excel.
  • Strong client orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of structures and dynamics within matrixed institutions, as well as multi-institutional relationships and complexities.
  • Strong project management skills required and ability to solve problems independently and use independent judgment in making decisions as appropriate.
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to manage change.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Ability to work within a team setting and foster collaboration.
  • Ability to analyze contracts and business intelligence data.
