San Diego's Newest Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT)

  • Telecare San Diego's newest behavioral health program is a 24/7, Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) serving individuals of all ages experiencing mental health crisis.
  • MCRT is creating an opportunity for Clinicians, Case Manager Master's, and Certified Peer Supports to intervene in a unique way that has never been done before in our system of care.
  • This program collaborates and accepts referrals from the San Diego Access and Crisis Line (ACL) and law enforcement.
  • San Diego's MCRT will offer crisis triage and management, risk assessment, in-person intervention, and case management.
  • Each team will respond to calls from the mobile crisis van to provide services directly in the field in the following San Diego Regions: Central, East, South, North Central and North Inland.

What are the qualifications? (Must Have)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certification as a Peer Support Specialist in CA
  • Experience as a beneficiary of the public Behavioral Health system of care
  • Driver's license and vehicle insurance that is current and valid with your name listed as the driver
  • Position requires transporting Members in program van (acceptable driving record)
  • Must be willing and able to drive a transit van in the community as a crisis responder

What will your role entail?
  • You will be 1 of 3 crisis responders assigned to a Crisis Response Vehicle. When MCRT receives crisis calls from ACL and 9-1-1 that are determined appropriate for our services, you will be dispatched in your team's van to the individual's location to assist.
  • The Peer Role will be used to help build rapport with the individual in crisis. You will get to use your own story of recovery to help empower their story of recovery.
  • You will demonstrate the Telecare mission, purpose, values, and beliefs in everyday language and contact with internal and external stakeholders
  • Draws upon own personal recovery experience with mental/addiction challenges as a basis for engagement as a peer with members served and to validate members' own lived experiences
  • Consistently utilizes recovery language and a strength-based approach to assist members served to reach their fullest potential
  • Participates in verbal de-escalation and physical interventions in emergent situations and is willing and able to assist other staff as needed to maintain a safe, healing environment for all
  • Provides education and expertise from the perspective of a person with lived experience of mental illness to the team concerning various mental health/addiction recovery experiences

Employment Status
  • Full-Time (4 days/wk)
  • Part-Time (3 or 2 days/wk)
  • *Needs to be able to work either Saturdays or Sundays

Shifts Available
  • PM: 2:30pm - 1:00am
  • NOC: 9:00pm - 7:30am

Days
  • 4 10s schedule (10-hour shifts)

Expected starting wage range is $19.00 - $22.50. Telecare applies geographic differentials to its pay ranges. The pay range assigned to this role will be based on the geographic location from which the role is performed. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.
