Job Description

DESCRIPTION

UC San Diego Health Sciences encompasses UC San Diego Health, the region's only academic health system, UC San Diego School of Medicine, one of the nation's top research-intensive medical schools, Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southern California's first public school of pharmacy, and Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science. UC San Diego Health Sciences' mission is to deliver outstanding patient care through commitment to the community, groundbreaking research and inspired teaching.

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Business Affairs and general work direction by Program Administrators/Managers, the incumbent provides programmatic administrative support to the School of Medicine Graduate Programs, which encompass Biomedical Sciences (BMS) and Neurosciences (NGP) and the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). Prepares reports, analyzes information and assist in program administration. Process all program expenditures including payment authorizations, travel reimbursements, honorariums and transactions related to program events and student activities. Assists with coordination for program events and educational activities.

The incumbent applies professional concepts to conduct analytical studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity to address a variety of policy, research and procedural issues. Fully analyzes issues and problems, gathers data and information, finds and evaluates alternatives and makes sound recommendations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Six years of related experience, education/training, OR an Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.

  • Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs.

  • Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

  • Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality.

  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.

  • Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.

  • Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.

  • Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to purchasing, travel, disbursements, human resources and payroll.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $56,700 - $97,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.16 - $46.70

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
