Under general supervision, performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing; evaluates test results; performs and evaluates quality control procedures; performs preventive maintenance, validations, calibration, and troubleshooting. Performs Point of Care Testing oversight for inpatient and outpatient areas. Performs staff training and competency evaluations. Create periodic reports for submission to Physicians, Lab Directors, Site Managers and Lab Administration.

Provides laboratory services in a timely manner and consistently delivers excellent customer service. Serves as a technical resource for customers and other staff. Adheres to all safety policies. Training/work experience in multiple areas of the Clinical Laboratory. Performs other related CLS functions/duties as required.

• Must have current Clinical Laboratory Scientist or appropriate subspecialty license issued by the State of California, Department of Public Health.
• General Clinical Laboratory Scientist (GCLS).
• Must have at least two (2) years of applicable clinical laboratory experience.
• Familiarity with CLIA, CAP and State requirements for POCT.

• Current Alvarado Hospital work experience in same area/environment.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience with Lab equipment maintenance, peer training, technical writing and Point of Care Testing.

• Must be able to work all shifts, week-ends, holidays, overtime and at various locations as necessary in accordance with operational needs.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
